Table Coffee
BUSCANDO GUAYABA (cm.47Øx80h.)
1987

When designing this coffee table for the fruit-bar having same name (see in interiors design) the intention was to created an object of absolute strength and stiffness as opposed to its light and unsteady appearance. Three extra-thin legs, cut out of a rough iron sheet only a few millimetres thick, slightly divergent downwards and welded to a short tubular profile, hold a circular black laquered MDF table top in the shallow of which is recessed a glass disk, the lower moulded face of which is silver-plated. All metallic parts are rust finished and mat varnished, while a series of holes has been drilled in each leg in order to decrease the global weight of this object. The necessary stiffness of the whole support is provided by the “T” profiled inner edge of the legs.
