ADJUSTABLE MULTIFUNCTIONAL INTEGRATED SPECTACLES
Designed for ESSILOR/Acme, Paris – France
1985

These spectacles were conceived to be adaptable, in terms of dimensions, to the different morphologies of most people’s faces, as well as to give their users the possibility to personalize their aesthetics. Besides that they have a number of electronic micro-appliances integrated in their body, which feature different functions and are interchangeable. They are, therefore, a product to be sold in a kit-box including a few basic elements, while a number of optional ones can be bought separately by each user, according to his personal needs and tastes. The whole system is assembled around a front supporting-bar, which allows to adjust the lenses’ inclination and reciprocal distance, as well as to alternate optical faces with different shape, colour and correcting power. A number of optional miniaturized devices can be integrated into the branches which, thanks to a simple and quick bayonet joint, have been made interchangeables too.
