Interior Design/commercial spaces.
Los Angeles, CA (February 3, 2009) – The winners of the 2008 International Design Awards (IDA) competition have been named today. IDA exists to celebrate the world’s most visionary designers, discover new and emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of design worldwide. Over 1000 entries from 52 countries throughout the world have been submitted to the rigorous process of a qualified judging panel, which rewarded the work of architects and designers of interiors, fashion, products, and graphics who demonstrated extraordinary vision and creativity in their approach to designing the man-made world. As for the Interior Design/commercial spaces category, the first prize has been awarded to the Italian architect Pierluigi Piu and his project for the London restaurant Olivomare. Other prominent personalities participating in the competition were Arup Associates (awarded for their Watercube Swimming Stadium built in Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games), Simone Micheli, Asymptote Architecture and Italo-American Giorgio Borruso. The winners of each category will be awarded and celebrated at a gala in Los Angeles at the end of March 2009.
